Perhaps the greatest joy we have as EMDR therapists is to hear our patients...tell us things like...”It’s over. Now it’s distant. I remember, but it doesn’t bother me anymore.”

Specializing in Trauma

Trauma can affect us in different ways, and there are a lot of different causes of trauma. Some people grew up in chaotic or even abusive homes, leaving them struggling to have “normal” or healthy adult relationships. Some people experience life threatening events like vehicle crashes, violent crime, or natural disaster, leaving their nervous systems jittery, and feeling unsafe everywhere. Some veterans return to their families and communities unable to adapt to civilian life, struggling with symptoms of PTSD. All of these events can cause similar symptoms, and it is important to know those symptoms are not an indication of brokenness. They are adaptations. At the time, they were necessary for your survival and are an indicator your nervous system and brain were responding to the environment. If you are looking for help with those adaptations, you’ve come to the right place.

Advanced and Customized Treatment

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR) are advanced modalities, rooted in neuroscience, that can rapidly and effectively treat trauma. The changes are often referred to by clients as deeply profound, resulting in feeling more integrated. While results vary and are dependent on a number of factors, these modalities often provide significant relief from symptoms within the first few sessions. Treatment plans are customized to each client’s specific needs, including options for extended sessions.

My Professional Approach

My approach is simple, do what works and do it as efficiently as possible. After 20+ years as a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor specializing in trauma, I have found that EMDR and DBR often work more quickly and effectively than traditional talk therapy. Since what works can be different for each person, collaboration between client and clinician is key in developing your unique treatment plan. Also, trust and safety are important for people working through trauma. That is why I encourage you to take advantage of the free 15-minute consultation. It’s an opportunity to meet me to see if we “click” without investing time and money before figuring out you don’t feel a connection. This is also an opportunity for me to assess whether I am qualified to meet your needs and that virtual care is suitable for you.
